Healthcare staffing providers rely on outdated methods of gathering and maintaining employee documents. The result is tedious, time-consuming processes that frustrate clinicians and employers with inaccurate, siloed, and unusable data. Not only are these processes manual and expensive, but they also lead to a fragmented employee experience. Poor employee experiences lead to increased turnover and lower-quality patient outcomes.
Before Roostrap, DoorSpace hired an alternative vendor to help them tackle these issues within healthcare, but unfortunately, the results of that partnership fell flat. Therefore, DoorSpace was in search of a new development vendor; they were looking for a partner who would collaborate with them and provide recommendations on their product strategy and overall vision. Given Rootstap’s experience in the health-tech space and its commitment to the user-centered design process, they were selected as the ideal candidate. Initially, the engagement started with one developer and QA resource, but as the project advanced, Rootstrap positioned itself as a strategic partner, broadening the scope of their agreement and adding new resources to the team.
Rootstrap rebuilt the portal connecting current and prospective employees to their employers. The portal stores and transfers medical credentials and certificates, which can be used to request documentation and manage expiration dates. Organizations could also use this module to assist with hiring by ensuring all their candidates provide accurate records.
In the United States, healthcare professionals are required to continue their education so they remain informed on all the latest developments, practices, and advancements in their field. Rootstrap rebuilt the portal to provide doctors and nurses with an intuitive, easy-to-follow platform to complete their coursework and track their progress. This module was critical to DoorSpace’s success because providers' licenses could be revoked if not maintained. Rootstap had to build out different protocols depending on the users' regions as requirements differ between states.
We implemented a new module using AWS Textract, an AI-powered OCR technology, to streamline the extraction and processing of user information from uploaded documents. This module, designed to integrate seamlessly with the DoorSpace app, eliminates the need to manually upload information, creating time efficiencies and reducing the possibility of errors. The system reads information from various documents such as driver's licenses, credentials, and diplomas, even handling handwritten text.
It automatically populates the corresponding fields in DoorSpace forms with a high level of confidence. The module ensures users and administrators can view confidence indicators for the identified information and manually validate its accuracy. This functionality is available on both web and mobile platforms, with comprehensive QA and regression testing conducted before deployment to ensure robust performance.
